1. Benefit Hoola Bronzer

I’ve never been much of a bronzer girl, I always contour to slim my chubby cheeks down but It’s just not something I’ve ever felt like buying a high-end version of. It’s a lovely colour, not too orange but not to brown toned. Whether you’re a bronzer girl, contour girl or both, this is perfect for all.

2. Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer

If you haven’t heard of this concealer yet, then you’re clearly not a blog reader or avid YouTube watcher like me. It’s probably one of the most talked about drugstore concealers ever. I stopped using this for a while and I don’t know why, It gives such good coverage and not only that its super affordable. I don’t use this under my eyes because I think it’s a bit too heavy for such a delicate area. Why spend out when you can find such an amazing drugstore concealer.

3. Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder

Another very talked about product on blogs and Youtube. This is a lovely drugstore powder, I have the shade ‘Sandstorm’ which is perfect for me. This powder can look really natural on the skin, it gives you a little coverage, is super affordable and sets your make up in place. Job well done.

4. L’Oreal Lumi Magique Concealer

Another amazing drugstore product. This is my favourite under eye concealer at the moment, It’s not too heavy for the delicate under eye area,  gives coverage and highlights. This can also be used to highlight cheek bones, brow bones and the cupids bow.

5. Mac Mebla Blush

This is my go to blusher. Its one of MACs very well-known blushes and I can see why. I think it’s a shade that would suit many skin tones, it’s a soft coral peach. It’s such a wearable shade and gives you a warm peachy complexion to your cheeks.

1. Maybelline Falsies Mascara

This is one of my favourite drugstore mascaras ever. It’s so easy to work with, you don’t have to apply layers and layers to get full long lashes. Two coats and my lashes have a lot of volume and length. I can’t speak highly enough about this mascara, try it!

2. & 4. Max Factor Excess Shimmer Eyeshadow

photo 3 (17)

The thing that I was most drawn to about these eyeshadows where the fact they reminded me of the Maybelline Colour Tattoo Eyeshadows, not only that but these two gorgeous shades Bronze and Copper. They are a strange mousse-like creamy consistency and I love these used all over the eyelid paired with other shadows in the crease or used together. I have noticed some creasing after a long time wearing these alone on the eye lid, but all in all I really do love the shades and look of these on the eyes.

3. MAC Quad & Eyeshadows

photo 2 (21)

From left to right, Shroom, Woodwinked, Wedge and Swiss Chocolate.

These are my first ever eyeshadows by MAC and I love creating looks with this quad. MAC describes shroom as a soft beige with shimmer, woodwinked as a warm antiqued gold, Wedge as a soft muted beige taupe and Swiss Chocolate as a muted reddish-brown. They all work together so well to create different looks, from day time natural looks to smokey looks. Although, I’m really unimpressed with Wedge, getting the swatch above was nearly impossible, I’m not sure if I just got a dodgy one.

1. & 2. MAC Lip Pencil (Stripdown) & MAC Lipstick (Honey Love)

This has been currently favourite nude lip pencil and lipstick combo. In the picture above Stripdown looks a lot browner than it is and it looks very different on the lips. MAC describes Stripdown lip pencil as a creamy brown-beige, and Honey Love lipstick as a matte light beige tone with rose. It’s a very different shade nude to what I’ve had before as its more beige toned rather peachy toned, but it’s really grown on me and it’s quite moisturising for a matte lipstick.

2. Nuxe Reve De Miel Lipbalm

This is my all time favourite lip balm. Its one of the best lip balms you will ever try, it is a pricey £9.50 but I think it’s worth every penny. I apply this once before I do my makeup and once before bed and I never need to re apply it through out the day, unless my lips are particularly dry. I find some lip balms are moisturising whilst sitting on your lips, but once its worn off you need to re apply it. This is a thick, citrus scented and extremely hydrating lip balm. If you have chapped lips, this is your new best friend, you wont regret it.

3. MAC Lipstick (Crosswires)

Crosswires and Honey Love have both been my go to lipsticks in the month of February and I don’t see that changing any time soon. MAC describes this as a clean pinky orange. The formula of this is a creme sheen, which is MACS creamiest and most moisturising formula, which is why this lipstick is so comfortable to wear. It’s the perfect in-between bright and nude shade. Perfect for everyday wear.

Have tried any of these products?

Let me know in the comments one of your February favourites!

November 2014 Birchbox Review

Another Birchbox review and let me tell you this month is a gooden! Birchbox says ‘The November 2014 Cosy at Home Birchbox has come to the rescue with a selection of beauty fixes and pick me ups, perfect for the cold wintery days and nights ahead’. Sounds perfect, the winter air can really play havoc with our skin and hair! If you want to find out more about what Birchbox is or even want to order your own, head on over to the website HERE.

Dr. Jart+ V7 Relief Vita Drop, Full Size – £26

The first and big item I saw in the box was this Dr Jart+ moisturiser, for sensitive and stressed skin, this is like a cooling gel consistency which feels very light but is still meant to be super hydrating for your skin. I have been using this for past week and I must say I’m not that keen. It is just too light for me, I don’t feel like I’ve moisturised my skin properly. However it isn’t terrible I just prefer my current moisturiser and will be going back to it. I was very grateful and pleased to receive this full size product by a brand I’ve heard lots about but never tried. I think this might work for some people but it just didn’t for me.

photo 4 (6)

Beauty Protector Protect & Treat Hair Mask, Full size – £16

I remember getting a sample of the shampoo and conditioner by this brand in a previous Birchbox and I really liked it. I love the smell of this brands products. I’m not an avid hair mask user as my hair is very already very soft but I will defintely give these a go and hopefully they wont weigh my hair down. I think this is another generous sample size from Birchbox and I love that they come in little pots, which are easy to store in the shower (unlike little packet samples).

Lord & Berry Bronzer, Full Size £19

I’m not sure which shade the bronzer I received was as there were two you could have received. I’ve been using this cute sample size bronzer non stop for the past week and I really like it. It’s a perfect matte bronze shade for my skin, and I love contouring with it. I think it’s a decent sample size as although it looks small, it will last quite a while. Make up items are my favourite things to receive and I was very pleased with this item, so much so I might buy the full size!

OPI Coca-Cola Red, Full Size £11.95

This is possibly one of the products I was most excited to see in my box . I’ve never owned an OPI nail polish but know they are mean’t to be amazing, so I can’t wait to try this one! I love how christmassy this shade is, it’s a bright ‘coca-cola’ cherry red as the name suggests and its another full size product. The nail varnish alone is almost the cost of the Birchbox itself!

photo 5 (3)

Weleda Almond Soothing Facial Oil, Full Size £14.95

I have never used a facial oil in fear it will make my skin greasy and cause a huge breakout. Birchbox says this facial oil is ‘Designed with sensitive and unbalanced skin types in mind and perfect protection against the elements for your skin’. I was pleased with the size of the sample as it means I can give it a good try. It isn’t the consistency I expected its more of a dry oil than a greasy oil which is great for someone like me who’s worried about making their skin too greasy. My skins been rubbish at the moment so its hard to tell if my skin liked this or not. It has definitely opened my mind to facial oils so I’m going to keep using it when my skin is extra dry!

Drinkwel Capsule Bottle, Full Size £32.99

This months lifestyle sample was something a little different. These are multi vitamin tablets with a difference, they are specifically designed to help with hangovers. You take 3 a day with food then after you’ve had a big night out, take 3 before you go to bed and apparently these will help you shift that hangover you’d normally get the next day! I’m not a big drinker so I will either let someone else try these or maybe I will give them ago next time I’m planning on getting drunk. I think it’s quite nice to receive something a little different!

That is everything I received in this months box and all and all I was very pleased.  What did you guys receive in your Birchbox and which product was your favourite?

August 2014 Birchbox Review

This months Birchbox theme is ‘Away We Go’ celebrating the fun of summer holidays away and adventures, very appropriate considering everyone seems to have been or are going on holiday recently! The items inside this months Birchbox are meant to be perfect for you during your travels! As any past Birchbox subscribers may know the products usually come in a cute Birchbox bag, but this time the products came in an even cuter mini toiletries bag, perfect to put your travel minis in! If you like the look of this months Birchbox, head on over to the website and order yours before the end of the month and see what exciting treats you receive.

Liaison De Parfum Resist Me Eau De Parfum 2ml Fullsize: £105.00

The first product I received was this perfume sample, excuse the ripped bit on the packaging, I opened it to smell it before I took the pictures! I like the fact it comes in a mini spray bottle its perfect to pop into your handbag or suitcase to take away with you! I love the fact that this is a really luxurious perfume full size at £105.00, it’s always nice being able to try samples of luxury products. Although I must say I’m not a fan of the scent, it’s very spicy with notes of bergamot, lemon, leather and lavender. I usually go for sweet and fresh scents. I will be passing this onto someone who does enjoy the scent of this.

Dead Sea Spa Magik Refreshing Bath Shower Gel 25ml Fullsize: £7.15

I’ve actually already used this product up. I love receiving bath products its something I’m always going to use as I love a good bubble bath. It was a nice product and I enjoyed using it but I can’t say I noticed anything too special. The scent is a very subtle fresh, spa scent. It contains minerals found in the springs of the dead sea that Birchbox says leaves you feeling ‘revitalised, relaxed and rejuvenated’. Would I pay £7.15 for the full size of this product, I’m not sure I would, because there are cheaper bubble baths I feel the same about, but I did enjoy trying the product.

Number 4 Luminere D’hiver Super Comb Prep & Protect 30 ml Fullsize: £20.00

This product is a multi use hair product, Birchbox says it’s ‘Strengthening, repairing, de tangling, great at taming flyaway ends as well as nourishing and protecting’!! I’m not a huge hair care girl but I am looking forward to giving more products ago. I’ve never tried a product like this just because my hairs already too soft sometimes and isn’t ever very knotty, but I will definitely try this out for when my hairs in need of some TLC or when I’ve had my hair shoved up all day and brushing through it hurts, hopefully this will help me out! It’s also sulphate and paraben free, which is perfect for coloured hair like mine.

Wild About Beauty Powder Eyeshadow £13.00

This was the product I was most excited about, I am a make up addict and love trying new make up products. I have never heard of this brand, it was founded by makeup artist Kim Jacob and TV personality Louise Rednapp. I love the packaging and embossed be in the eyeshadow, I also love the colour, it’s a beautiful bronze, copper colour. Above is a picture of this on my eyes with a shade called ‘Trick’ from the Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette over the top, which is a very sparkly copper but without a base isn’t very opaque, this colour is perfect underneath or just as a pretty on it its own.

The Proposal By Tasmina Perry One Chapter Sample Fullsize: £7.99

The lifestyle item I received this month was a one chapter book sample. I’ve never heard or seen a book sample before but I think it’s a really cute idea. I’m not a massive reader but I’m definitely going to give this chapter a read and see if I like the sound of it. I think this is a nice thing to receive.

What did you receive in your Birchbox?

July Favourites

July has been and gone so I decided I would share a few of my July beauty, fashion and random favourites with you. I find looking at what products and random things people have been enjoying each month interesting so I hope you do to!

So here are my favourites from the month of July…

image (1)

image (2)

Clinique Cheek Pops

The first product I have been enjoying for a while now, not just July are these two Clinique Cheek pops in the shades ‘Peach Pop’ and ‘Plum Pop’. First of all there’s no denying the flower pattern engraved into these blushes are irresistible and if you’re a make up lover like me, this sort of thing will make you want to buy a product even more! These two colours are perfect for any look you want to create with your make up, they can be applied for a natural look or built up for a brighter colour and they feel like velvet to touch. I love using my real techniques stippling brush when applying these blushes.

image (4)

Mitchum Flower Fesh Deodorant

We all use it and I have come to the conclusion Mitchum deodorant is the best for the job. I like the ‘Flower Fresh’ Scented one, it’s very fresh and girly, I haven’t got much else to say but this works and I will be sticking to it.

Silver Jewellery

I have really been enjoying layering on the silver jewellery during july and now. These are some of my favourites the majority are from Volcano a jewellery shop on Poole high street. The others are from an Esty shop that I have in fact written a blog post on, which you can read HERE. I love silver jewellery with semi precious stones in, I’m not a diamonds and bling kind of girl.

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water and Simple Kind To Skin Moisturising Facial Wash

Who said taking your make up off and washing your face had to be a chore?

The two cleansing products I enjoyed during July and still am are the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water and the Simple Moisturising Facial Wash. My skins not the best recently but I think that is down to what I’ve been eating and stress. The Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water is a great dupe for the bloggers/YouTubers favourite Bioderma. It’s so quick and easy to pop on to a cotton bud and remove all your make up before you to bed, it literally feels like your using water!

Simple is a brand I always seem to end up going back to, I love using this face wash in the mornings in the shower. It leaves my skin feeling so clean and fresh and I have noticed I have less dry skin around my nose, its hard to say if that’s down to this or a  new simple moisturiser I have recently been trying. I will do a skincare routine once I’ve given the other products a good try.

Garnier Ultimate Blends – Colour Illuminator

The shampoo and conditioner I have been enjoying is the Garnier Ultimate Blends colour Illuminator range, I have red coloured hair so these are perfect for me. I’m not very big on hair care but when I use a shampoo and conditioner I like my hair to have volume, feel soft but not too soft and this shampoo and conditioner seem to tick both boxes. I love the scent of theseand it seems to linger on my hair right up until I next wash it!

     photo 4 photo 2 photo 3

Covet Fashion Game

My next favourite mention is actually a game/app I have been enjoying for a while now. This game is called ‘Covet Fashion’. It’s basically a game where you create a fashion look based on a theme or items your asked to include within your look for events. Your looks then get voted on by other players and you also cast a vote on other players looks. You then get scored and win a fashion item in your game closet for future looks! The clothes are real clothes you can buy and sometimes even win if you get the highest score. I love putting together outfits so this is app is a lot of fun for me and its also free, go check it out!

july faves

My next favourite  is a music favourite and its of course Ed Sheeran’s new album X, I have been non stop playing this and still am! I think the whole album is good but a few of my faves are One, Don’t, Bloodstream, Photograph and Thinking Out Loud. If you haven’t listened to this album yet then I would seriously recommend giving it a go.

New Look Floral Dress

The last favourite of mine is this floral summer dress from New Look. I love this dress, it’s the perfect length on me and I love a good floral dress, unfortunately I can’t link you to it because I got this last year which is also when this picture was taken!

What is a favourite of yours from july?

Lush Bath Bomb Review: Granny Takes A Dip

During May I purchased and received rather a lot of Lush products as it was my Birthday. Granny Takes A Dip is just one of the many I’ve tried recently and its a fairly new bath bomb to lush, I’ve used two of these so far and I really liked it. This bath bomb is very big and could  easily be broken in half if you wanted to get two uses out of the product. Lush says the lemon scent makes this bath bomb refreshing and uplifting, while the pepper is warming and clarifying and the ginger is naturally anti-bacterial and also uplifting, perfect to pop in your bath during this hot summer weather! I can’t say I am the biggest fan of the scent just because I’m more of a sweet scent lover, but once diluted in the bath I like it.

As you can see in the pictures it creates beautiful rings and swirls of colour as it fizzes in the bath, which is one of the main reasons I love this bath bomb (its the simple things, I tell you)!  Unlike some bath bombs this one is a slow fizzer making your bath bomb experience last longer. Once this bath bombs finished dissolving in the bath it turns your water a deep purple colour, who wants clear bath water anyway?! I would definitely recommend this bath bomb if you enjoy seeing pretty, tie die esc patterns in your bath as much as I do!

Have you tried ‘Granny Takes A Dip’ in your bath yet? What did you think of it?

3 Step Guide For Silky Smooth Summer Skin

silky smooth summer skin

The nights are staying lighter for longer and the temperatures are rising,  with  forecasts in the uk showing sun for the next week or so and hopefully we will have a lot more of it! Baring all with bare legs in dresses and shorts, teeny bikinis and swimsuits and arms all out, its time to get our skin smooth and ready for all  these things! I’ve been wanting to write a blog post about this for a while but I wanted to wait until it seemed worth while and weather appropriate so I’ve decided to do it now! This is my 3 step guide on how to get silky smooth summer skin!

Step 1. A Hairy Subject

Yep that’s right I’m talking about shaving. I like to use the ‘Gillette Venus & Olay Razor‘ which comes with a shower holder, that is super handy so you don’t have to leave your razor in its own puddle of water on the side of the bath or shower, it can drip dry in its own little holder! The main thing I love about this razor are the moisture bars above and below the blades, these mean you don’t need to use shaving foam or soap to shave with, it does it all for you! It leaves you with a close smooth shave and has a creamy light scent. Now ladies, I know a lot of you will relate to me with my next shaving related problem, Ingrown hairs, razor bumps and rashes! Unfortunately I suffer with these things rather a lot especially under my arms and around the bikini area, they are incredibly sore and don’t exactly look nice either! I have been using ‘Tend Skin Refillable Roll-On In-Growing Hair Solution‘ to try to combat this problem and I think its working. This is a solution you can apply after shaving that helps to stop with the annoying above problem. The roller ball application makes it easy to apply and I prefer it to the bottle version which I applied with cotton pads, half the product soaks into the cotton pad anyway! I apply this after I shave for a day or two then as and when needed if I get any problems. I ran out of this for a little while and had to re purchase it after the problems started getting worse again!

Step 2. Scrub-a-dub-dub

The next step is using a body scrub. You can do this before you shave to get rid of dead skin cells, get a closer shave and prevent ingrown hairs, but regular use in-between shaves helps un trap hairs, clean away surface oils and dead skins cells! I tend to do it after shaving as I feel like the hair stops the scrub from working as well (It probably doesn’t though).  So all in all its going to keep your skin looking and feeling good. I recommend the ‘Body Shop Raspberry Body Scrub‘ which I wrote a blog post about you can read HERE. I also love the ‘Soap & Glory™ Sugar Crush™ Body Scrub‘ it does a really good job and it smells so delicious like coca-cola, lime and sugar mmm!

Step 3. Butter Up

With all the sun, sea and skin on show its important to keep your skin well hydrated, which will help your skin stay soft. I love using Body Butters and the body shop do some great scented ones. Again I love the Body Shops’s ‘Raspberry Body Butter‘ which I also wrote about in the same post about the body scrub, so click the same link to have a read. I also love the ‘Soap & Glory Sugar Crush Body Buttercream‘ which has the same sweet scent as the Sugar Crush scrub! Another great thing I have been enjoying applying this summer is the ‘NUXE Huile Prodigieuse OR Multi-Usage Dry Oil – Golden Shimmer‘ which I also wrote a blog post about HERE so many self promos haha. This looks so lovely applied to the legs for a pretty golden sheen, it also looks lovely on the rest of the body in general and its super hydrating and not too greasy like some body oils!

What products do you use to keep your skin silky smooth?

Top 5 Spring/Summer Nail Polishes

During the spring and summer I especially enjoy painting my finger and toe nails in pretty, vibrant and colourful shades. I love seeing other people’s favourite season appropriate nail polish blog post’s or youtube videos, to get inspiration and find new nail polish colours (because I clearly don’t have enough)! So I thought I would share some of my current favourite spring/summer shades. Let me tell you it was tough choosing these, I am terrible at making decisions but I narrowed it down to these.

Barry M, Gelly Hi Shine, Nail Paint, Light Blue

This shade of blue is such a lovely colour. Its not as bright as it is in the picture, It’s a powdery light pastel blue and it’s a really unique shade. I love having this on my nails in the spring/summer its bright and colourful but also fits in with pastel trend. I always get compliments on how lovely this colour looks not only in the bottle but on my nails! Barry M  is probably my all time favourite drug store nail polish brands. They apply nicely, last a good amount of time on your nails, have an amazing range of shades and there really affordable.

Essie, Fiji

This is quite a talked Essie nail polish shade within the blogging and YouTube community. It’s a lovely pale almost white pink. If you’re not keen on rocking the white nails look, then this is a lovely colour to go with. Essie are a more expensive nail polish brand within the drug store and I’m not entirely sure the formula is my favourite. I haven’t used this in a while but last time I did it chipped very quickly. I do however like the wide brushes it makes it very easy to apply your nail polish with. I am looking forward to trying this again during these warmer months, it’s a lovely understated nail colour.

I won’t talk about this too much as I mentioned it in my April Birchbox Review which you can find HERE. I couldn’t decide if I wanted this to be in my top 5 or not but I decided it should be. I love the colour, its a lot greener in real life rather than the pictures. It’s just a lovely pearlescent mint green and it lasts so well on my nails! Check out my Instagram to see a picture of this on my nails.

Revlon Parfumerie Scented Nail Enamel, Apricot Nector

This is definitely my second favourite in my top five. This colour is beautiful and is such a summer appropriate colour and will look amazing with a tan. Its a lovely muted peachy orange and it also smells like apricots, I don’t think its quite as orange as it looks in picture its paler and peachier! I bought it for the colour but the scent is also quite pleasant, and I like the formula of these nail polishes, plus the bottles are really cute! I’ve not seen a colour like this and it looks just as bright as it does in the bottle on your nails without being gaudy. I like it a lot, Check out my Instagram to see a picture of this on my nails!

Barry M, Gelly Hi Shine, Nail Paint, Sugared Apple

This my friends is definitely number 1 on my Top 5. I am in love with this nail polish, when I first bought this I would re apply it every time I re done my nails, that’s how much I loved seeing it on my nails! I have never seen a nail polish this shade, its a beautiful turquoise blue very reminiscent of the Tiffany Co packaging! I’ve seen lots of blues and mint greens but no turquoise shades. I love how vibrant this is on the nails and the fact it’s by my favourite nail polish brand makes it even better. This colour is perfect for spring/summer, I cannot recommend it enough. Go look at it, buy it, try it on your nails and try to tell me you don’t love it!! Again check out my Instagram t see this on my nails!

So these are just a few of my favourite spring/summer nail colours, I also love corals, lilacs and many more! Let me know in the comments if you have and love any of the nail polishes I have mentioned, also let me know some of your favourite spring/summer nail polishes that you think I should try!
