I have wanted to lose weight for a long time now, to make myself happy and gain confidence. I really struggle with cravings for naughty foods and tend to binge eat. I lost 3 stone so I know I can do it, it’s just sticking to it. Which is when I came up with this idea incorporating my ‘Letter To My Self’ blog posts. I am going to write a short ‘letter’ to myself for when I am desperately craving foods I know I shouldn’t have or when I feel like going on a binge.

 When your mind is telling you, you REALLY want that piece of cake, that burger or take away its hard to take control and say NO. It feels like there’s a magnetic force pulling you towards the foods you know you shouldn’t eat. I think during those moments you lose sight of all the reasons why you want to lose weight, having that cake seems like a better idea, until afterwards. This is something you reading this can do to, write it down or type it out and print it off, to read when your on the verge of breaking your healthy eating plan. Reading a letter you yourself have written when in a positive mind set is the perfect reminder you need. This is your very own personal letter containing all those reasons you want achieve your weight loss goal, its not a quote or picture off the internet.

 Dear Me,

Let me guess you’re craving multiple bars of chocolate, cakes, sweets, sugary drinks and fatty foods? well let me remind you why you don’t want to give into these feelings.

♥ Cravings will pass. I know it feels like torture not to allow yourself to have something you really want to eat, but that feeling will pass. Wait an hour or two before you give in to these cravings and impulses, it may have been and gone by then. If you really can’t resist picking on something, choose a healthier option such as, apple or banana with peanut butter or a healthy cereal bar. Have one thing only, you know more than one of something is excessive and these are the habits you know you want to break.

 ♥ Remember why you want to lose weight. You know you need to do this for yourself, you want this so bad. Think of the confidence you will gain and think of all the things your weight stops you doing, because of your lack of confidence. Imagine walking into a room and not instantly thinking ‘I bet people think I’m fat’, but feeling good instead.

♥ Imagine going shopping for clothes and not getting into the changing room and feeling upset at the sight of yourself. Imagine all the clothes you could buy and feel amazing in, no restrictions on styles of things you think will suit your body shape, just pick anything you like and try it on with no qualms.

♥ Not only will you look good, you will feel good. Imagine how much lighter and healthier you will feel.

♥ This time next week, month or even year, where do you want to be? Will that naughty food or multiple chocolate bars be worth it? Or will loosing another pound, another half a stone or being at your goal be 100x more worth it. I think you know the answer. A month or year down the line, don’t let yourself be wishing you had kept going and wondering how far you could have come by now. Do it and you’ll see.

♥ Only you can make it happen, why dream about how amazing it would feel to lose weight, when you can make that dream come true!

♥ That work out you are dreading is going to get you where you want to be  faster, make you fitter and its only one hour out of your whole day.

Feel Good Friday: Weight Loss & Motivation

Firstly I want to apologise for not posting a Feel Good Friday blog post for the last couple of weeks now. Today I am going to be writing about something that’s very close to my heart at the moment, which is weight loss. As some of you may know a while ago now I started Weight Watchers, I was ridiculously proud at myself for losing 3 stone, also surprised! For a while now I have fallen off the band wagon and not been as motivated as I was, which means I have put on some of the weight I lost, not all of it though, which I suppose is a positive. But that’s exactly what I want to talk about, being positive and looking forward. I have been feeling so angry at myself for not carrying on with my hard weight loss work and keep thinking about how far I could have come by now, if I had kept going. I am now frustrated that I have to lose the weight that I had already lost, it seems like such a waste of time, I’ve been there done that, I just want to be where I was and lose more!

I am sure a lot of you guys relate to what I am going through, right? Loosing weight is not easy but instead of being frustrated with myself I need to look at this differently, and if you reading this are also facing similar problems I think you should to! Although those things I talked about above are all really irritating, what is being angry at myself going to achieve? Nothing, accept make me more negative and less motivated, which is the last thing I need! The thing is the only way to get back to where I was before I fell off the wagon is to do it again. If I want to change my life, feel confident and healthy its my only option. I need to take this as a lesson, to keep me motivated and stop me from quitting when it gets hard! If there is something positive you want to achieve, like I do with loosing weight the only way to get there is to do something about it. I feel like I am finally back in my Weight Watchers mind set, although exercise is something I need to work on doing more off. Diet is way more important than exercise and the fact I am eating less and tracking what I am eating, is progress to getting back to where I left off and to lose even more this time.

Healthy Alternatives.


I don’t know about you but Christmas for me has consisted of a lot of over eating of things that aren’t very good for me! It’s hard not too when everyone else is tucking into that box of chocolate or offering you mince pies and cream, I have no will power this time of the year. But as I said in my last post with 2014 nearing I am hoping to get back on track with my healthy eating at Weight Watchers. I started weight watchers at the start of January last year and managed to lose 3 stone, but as it got closer to Christmas and I was lacking in motivation, the healthy eating life style began to be a bit neglected!  So I’ve picked out some of my favourite, healthy/lower in calorie alternatives to popular foods, hopefully this will give you some ideas and remind myself of what it was I was eating before my little blip.

Healthy Alternatives

Nakd – Cocoa Orange Fruit & Nut Bar

These bars are a great alternative to cereal bars or even chocolate bars. They contain Dates (40%), Cashews (40%), Raisins (14%), Cocoa (5%), Orange oil.  Which is really good if you compare that to a cereal bar or chocolate bar from the supermarkets, they have no added preservatives or sugar to them! They are really nice as a sweet treat and good for on the go to just pop in your bag and take out with you.  You can find these at Holland and Barrett or check your local super markets e.g the Tesco near me stocks them, they come in a variety of flavours, so take your pick.

Wholemeal Carbs

Always choose the wholemeal option when it comes to food, they have the same number of calories in them but white bread and pasta etc  are all refined carbohydrates. Refined carbohydrates lead to rapid sugar spikes which is when the sugar is processed by are cells as fuel, this leaves you feeling hungry and less satisfied quicker than if you we’re to eat wholemeal carbohydrates. This is because whole meal carbs are not absorbed into our cells as quickly, there for leaving us feeling fuller for longer. Which when eating healthy is an important thing, if you can keep yourself fuller and less likely to snack then that’s always a good thing. Whole meal bread also contains more fibre which is a vital part of a healthy balanced diet. Science lesson over!

Frozen Yogurt

Frozen yoghurt isn’t that good for you don’t get me wrong, but its much lower in calories than Ice-cream, depending on which ones you get so do check the ingredients and calorie content before chowing down on big tubs of the stuff! The one I have shown in the picture above is the Tesco Frozen Yogurt Mango & Passion Fruit. This is perfect if your craving a dessert after dinner!

Kallo Thick Organic Rice Cakes

Rice cakes they sound and look bland, but I think they are pretty tasty topped with the right things. They are very low in calories, contain no hidden ingredients, just organic whole grain rice and a bit of sea salt. These are a great alternative to the classic cream cracker or any crackers really, you put pretty much anything that takes your fancy on to one of these and they are nice a light so they don’t leave you feeling bloated or weighed down. You definitely don’t need to feel guilty about eating a lot of these (with in reason). I like to top these with a low-fat cream cheese, smoked salmon, cucumber and sprinkling of black pepper! You can get these from most supermarkets, it doesn’t have to be Kallo rice crackers there all pretty much the same.

Vita Coco 100% Pure Coconut Water and  Orange Juice With Bits Not From Concentrate

I hadn’t heard of Coconut Water until recently, but I’m very glad I came across it as I think it’s really tasty and refreshing. It’s not the cheapest of drinks but it is much healthier than any squash or smoothies. It’s the perfect drink for the summer, it’s very refreshing and hydrating but a little more exciting than a glass of water. You can find this at various places, such as  Holland And Barret or again check your local supermarket, Tesco near me stocks it! This is probably a no brainer but Orange juice NOT from concentrate, look at the ingredients on any juices your buying, if it’s not 100% pure fruit I wouldn’t bother with it, juice from concentrate contains a ton of sugar and preserves! If you have your own juicer then I’d definitely recommended creating your own juice as you know exactly what’s in it and its fresher.


These are just two yogurt one is a extremely natural yogurt and another not quite as natural but very filling and yummy! The most natural yogurt I have found that’s not just plain yogurt is the Rachel’s Organic Low Fat Vanilla Yogurt , the ingredients list on this is nice and short which is usually a good sign. It contains , Organic Low Fat Yogurt,Organic Sugar  and Organic Vanilla Extract. This does come in low-fat with other flavours depending which supermarket you shop at, and also normal non low-fat flavours too. The other yogurts I have been enjoying lately are the Danio yogurts, there not the cheapest but I do think there worth the money. There basically very thick yogurt with a fruit layer at the bottom, which I find usually bumps the calories up a lot. These aren’t the lowest calorie yogurts out there but they are really filling because the yogurt is so thick and you get quite a lot in a pot. They contain no artificial flavours, colours or preserves and come in 0% fat and non low-fat flavours.

Kallo Organic Milk Chocolate Thin Rice Cakes

This time I’m talking rice crackers covered in milk chocolate one side. I think these are actually really nice and a good snack when you fancy something sweet or something with a bit of chocolate. They don’t contain any artificial flavours, colours or preserves, the ingredients are Organic Milk Chocolate (59%) (Organic Cane Sugar, Organic Cocoa Butter, Organic Full CREAM MILK, Powder, Organic Cocoa Mass),Organic Whole grain Brown Rice. Again you can find these in Holland and Barrett or check your local supermarket.


I am obsessed with these little bags of popcorn, they are perfect snacks, really satisfying and filling but also light and not too heavy in the stomach. They come in savoury and sweet flavours such as Sweet And Salty, Sea Salt and Fiery Worcester Sauce And Sun dried Tomato. Me and my mum always say when eating a bag of these that they seem to go on forever, which is good because it makes you feel full. I think it’s really good that they come in small bags as if I have big bags of popcorn there’s no stopping me, so the fact that once this little bag is gone there is no more is a good thing! They are much better for you than crisps or other brands of popcorn and I personally think they are really tasty! I would also recommend Metcalfe’s Skinny Topcorn especially in the flavour chocolate crackle, but there really hard to find I’ve only come across them in Topshop, weirdly enough, and other flavours in Primark!  I know super markets do big bags  of some flavours which is fine if you have more self-control than me! You can find propercorn in your local supermarket or look around online and the same goes for Metcalfe’s Skinny Topcorn.

Remember a balanced diet is healthy, don’t restrict yourself from everything you love, all in moderation. If you have any healthy food recommendations I’d love to hear about them!
