Nail Polish Shades | Perfect For The Colder Months

One thing I love about winter is all the seasonal colours. People tend to gravitate to warm berry and burgundy tones, deep navy blues, greys and blacks etc, whether it be clothes, make up or nails! As much as I love corals, pinks and pastel colours in the spring/summer, there is something I love about the darker shades that appear during the winter. I have been loving painting my nails with wintry shades, so I thought I would share some of my current favourites that I have been wearing throughout autumn and now winter. I may be keeping an eye out for some other shades such a dark forest green shade or a nice grey, because I clearly need more nail polishes (I don’t). You may see a theme with me and nail polishes, I love Barry M they are so affordable, they do an amazing range of shades and finishes and the formula and quality is amazing.

I love this purple shade called ‘Plum’, it’s a lovely dark plum that almost looks black. Nail polishes like this are perfect if you don’t want to go for completely black nails but still want something fairly dark. Very deep burgundys are also great for that to, such as Barry M’s ‘Black Red’.

This red shade is called ‘Red Wine’. What would my winter nail polish favourites be without a seasonal red within it! Red is such a timeless colour and is seen everywhere during christmas. If you fancy something a little deeper than a classic cherry red, this is a great choice.

I am in love with this colour. The shade is called ‘Blue Grape’ and its a perfect true cobalt blue shade. I love how this looks on the nails, it’s so eye-catching and it’s not like any other blue I own. Its bright but I think its still very winter appropriate shade.

This is my first ever matte nail polish and I was pleasantly surprised with the finish and colour, I wasn’t sure how I felt about matte nails before hand. This is in the shade ‘Crush’. Although it looks very similar in the bottle to the shade red wine mentioned earlier, it’s very different on the nails. It’s a lovely deep burgundy/maroon shade. This might be my favourite out of them all!

What are your favourite nail polish colours during the colder months? if you have any recommendations, feel free to leave them in the comments!

Santa Claws.

Whenever Christmas is around the corner, us girls really like to get in the festive spirit, from Christmas shopping, present wrapping, decorating the house right down to our nails. Is it just me that when its near Christmas and I’m going to paint my nails they have to be somewhat Christmassy or it just feels wrong! I recently bought a Birchbox which you can find out more about HERE. One of the beauty items I received was a Nail Rock nail varnish and pot of matching red glitter, it comes in a little set together. I was so pleased to see this in my beauty box and to give it a try,  red and sparkly, doesn’t get more Christmassy than that!

It’s really simple to use all you have to do is paint your nails with a base coat of your choice, then paint your nails with the red nail varnish and leave to dry. When your first coat is dry that’s when the glitter fun can start, you need to do a second coat of the red nail polish then when the nails are still wet, simply dip your nail into the pot of matching glitter and press  firmly on your  coloured nails!

It does get a little messy so I suggest you put a piece of paper or something underneath your hands to catch the glitter, now at this point like I was your fingers are probably covered in glitter but its pretty easy to sort, I got a make up brush and carefully brushed around the nails to brush the excess glitter off. Then all you have to do is pour the excess glitter on the paper back in to the pot so you don’t waste any. Allow your nails to dry for at least 15 mins, but I found they dried pretty quickly but I was careful until I knew for sure they we’re dry.

I really love the effect this sparkly duo gives, I thought it was going to be like novel glitter nail varnish, but it is so pretty and it looks like it would be a lot harder to create this look on your nails than it is! I think I have found my perfect festive nail look this Christmas and I will be wearing this Christmas day!

Merry Christmas beautiful people ♥

The Perfect Winter Evening

The Perfect Winter Evening

Winter is well and truly here and the cold nights are setting in, which I personally love. I love those cosy evenings in front of a fire with your favourite soap on TV or that classic Christmas film you watch every year. It makes you feel so festive and snug, so I thought I’d tell you about what my perfect winters night in would consist of!

1. First off all there is nothing better than a warm bubbly bath and face mask on a chilly evening. My choices for this would be two products I’m currently lusting over to try and that’s the Hot Toddy Bubble Bar from Lush Cosmetics. This product sounds perfect for this festive time of year, Lush describes it as a spicy orange perfume that is like a big Christmassy hug – what could be more perfect, who needs a boyfriend when you have a bath bomb that’s like a hug!

The facemask I have chosen is called ‘Rudolph’ very festive indeed! Lush describes this as nourishing, fresh and calming mask that reduces redness and restores the nutrients in the skin. Which you can never go wrong with in the winter months as the cold doesn’t half play havoc on your skin.  It also comes with a cute red nose you can pop on after you’ve applied your face mask which I think is such a funny and cute touch to add to the product.

2. Once you’ve had your bath and your skin has been pampered what better than to get in this ridiculously cute Panda onesie from Next . I actually have this myself and it is so snugly and warm, I’d definitely recommend this for when its cold. When I’m feeling a bit down just putting this on cheers me up, probably just because I look so funny in it, not only that but it is completely fluffy inside and out!

just for your own amusement here is a picture of me wearing it, Excuse the lack of makeup!

3. You can’t wear a fluffy panda onesie without matching slippers to keep your feet warm too! These slippers are like little pumps,  I prefer these as I find my feet get a bit too hot in boot slippers especially when I’m dressed as a fluffy panda!

4. I don’t know about you but my evenings aren’t complete without a cup of tea or some sort of hot drink, preferably in my favourite mug, don’t deny it we all have a mug that’s are favourite (It’s the simple things in life). I thought I would pick this very festive vintage looking Santa Clause mug from Cath Kidston, I really want a Cath Kidtson mug as sad as that sounds, but they not only look pretty but there a really good size!

5. Last but not least, a bar of chocolate to go with your cup of tea or hot drink of your choice. I am in love with Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, they are literally like pieces of heaven! Can’t go wrong with peanut butter and chocolate!

And as a little extra my evenings are best when with this little fluff ball!
